I’ve been teaching golf for over twenty years now and occasionally I’ll search the internet for information on subject matter related to my business. It’s amazing how much comes up through a search on the golf swing.
As a professional looking from the outside in and trying at the same time to put myself in the shoes of the everyday golfer looking for the same information, I don’t know how the golfer can understand the difference between good and bad information as it pertains to improving your golf swing. You have the X-Factor, the O-Factor, the ‘this and the thats’ and you have to make the choice of which system to follow to hit the ball better. To me, it’s just a lot of crap! Sounds a little harsh but I can’t label this golf instruction stuff any differently.
Let’s look at it this way. The golf swing is a motion that lasts less than two seconds. Yet, this elusive golf swing has been broken into a gazillion of pieces. It’s like a big puzzle with over a million pieces and you don’t even know where to start. I hate doing puzzles anyway. The game hasn’t really changed one bit since it’s birth. You are not allowed to hit a moving ball, the hole is still four and one quarter inches wide and low score wins. I hope you understand this.
Here is my advice to anyone looking to improve their golf swing. There is no one way to swing a golf club but there is a way that works for you. Learn how to hold the club better and stand more correct and you will see improvement right away. The golf swing is nothing more than making smooth motion with a golf club and being able to consistently control the club face with the emphasis on control of the club face. If you have control of your club face and can hold the golf club a better way along with a good stance, you can have ‘your own style’ of swinging the club period and hit the golf ball like the Tour Players.
More simply put, there is No Perfect Golf Swing. The Pros know it and now you do too.
I hope this helps.
Good luck in your search of that not so perfect golf swing!
